Excursions - Six Bays of Newfoundland
St. John's Newfoundland
The Rooms Provincial Museum and Art Gallery
www.therooms.ca
Soaring into the skyline of historic St. John's, The Rooms combines twenty-first
century technology with a striking visual reference to our past. Its
unique design mirrors the "fishing rooms" where families came
together to process their catch. You'll find collections, exhibits and
programs that tell our stories and interpret our natural world through
art, artifacts, archaeology, architecture and archival records.
Signal Hill

Cabot Tower was built in 1897 to commemorate the 400th anniversary of
John Cabot's discovery of Newfoundland, and Queen Victoria's Diamond
Jubilee. In 1901, Marconi received the first trans-Atlantic wireless
message at a position near the tower, the letter "S" in Morse
Code sent from Cornwall, England. |
